Quick review of the Transfer case skid from Rusty's Off Road

The skid is made of 3/16 inch steel. Weight is 18 pounds. The plate will not bend by standing on it and pulling hard (try to say that about the Mopar skid). I have the Engine/Transmission skid on the way, and will get some pictures of that up soon after the install.

From the side. The 3 self tapping bolts took about 2 minutes to drill and install here.

Another view of how that holds onto the frame. Much better than the Mopar nutserts.

That top mounting area starts the bend down right where the frame bends up. This shows the relation to the QuadraTrac (249) transfer case I have.

The TC skid for the 249 does have a bend down after it connects to the TC support, as you can see here.

Best view I could get to show how the front of the cat is protected by the skid because it is much larger than the Mopar design.

A better overall view of how the drop is done with the 249 skid from Rusty's. The non-249 skid does not bend down after the TC support, so imagine it about 2 inches higher.

The bolts mounting to the TC support. Again, better than nutserts. (my skid is a bit wider than what Rusty is making now, so your's will not necessarily 'hang over' the edge the 1 inch or so mine does where the TC support bends up.

View from the passenger side. Shows a bit of how the cat is protected some.

Another from the passenger side. It is hard to see, but the skid (right where that bends down- the lowest part in this picture) covers about half of the clamp for the cat. A picture from directly below did not come out too well.

Best shot I could take from the front view, with the Jeep on the ground.

This shows from the front view, drivers side. The 'extra' mounting hole is because the skid I got was a bit larger than most. I just drilled another hole. You can see a bit of how much wider my skid is here because of how the TC support bends up, and the skid still goes level (only about 1/8th of an inch here, so no big deal really - I actually like it better - bigger is better in this case).

Not part of the skid, but I was out taking pictures anyhow. Have this one on the back window to let folks know what city I live in. Any of you snowboarders or skateboarders or Mt. bike riders out there I'm sure have heard of Santa Cruz, since there are companies in each of these fields with the name of the city in it (Santa Cruz Snowboards, Santa Cruz Skateboards, and Santa Cruz Mt. Bikes; duh), which are all fairly respected names.
