Fluids are actually quite easy to change. The easiest, or at least the best method is to remove the cover on the differential. While removing the cover, keep the top bolt in so the cover does not fall off while the fluid is draining.
Remove the cover and clean out and inspect all parts for breakage. A clean rag works fine.
Replace the cover by using RTV type gasket sealant. Do not overtighten, or the sealant will not be doing its job.
Refill with recommended fluids.
